Jerry Colonna

Most recently a partner with J.P. Morgan Partners, LLC (JPMP), the private-equity arm of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Jerry has been an investor in early-stage information technology companies for more than seven years. He joined JPMP from Flatiron Partners.
 
With his partner, Fred Wilson, Jerry launched Flatiron in August 1996. Flatiron became one of the most successful, early stage investment programs in the New York City area, with five-year returns in the top 25% of all venture firms.
 
At Flatiron, Jerry was responsible for a wide range of the firm's investments including Geocities Inc., Gamesville Inc., Vertical One Inc., and The New York Times Digital.
 
Jerry joined his first firm, CMG@Ventures L.P. ("@Ventures"), in February 1995 as a founding partner.
 
Prior to joining @Ventures, Jerry worked for nearly ten years for CMP Media Inc., one of the fastest growing technology publishing firms in the country. From 1985 to 1993, he served in a variety of roles at InformationWeek, including a three-year stint as its Editor. During his tenure, InformationWeek became the fastest growing technology publication serving information systems professionals.
 
In 1993, he became the Director for Editorial Technology and helped initiate and complete the company's successful transition to a decentralized, desktop-based publishing system. In 1994, he became the founding director of the company's Interactive Media Group. Later that year, he led the development effort behind the company's launch of TechWeb. Hailed as one of the most ambitious web-publishing enterprises to date, TechWeb was the third organization to begin selling advertising on the Web.
 
Jerry currently serves on the boards of directors of Planet Out Partners Inc. and ProfitLogic Inc.
 
Jerry also serves as a director of a number of nonprofit organizations, including Mouse Inc., and is Co-Executive Director of NYC 2012.
 
Mouse Inc. (Making Opportunities for Upgrading Schools & Education) is a nonprofit volunteer organization that provides New York City public schools and their extended communities with technology resources, expertise, access and support by linking them with professionals from the local high tech industry centered in Silicon Alley.
 
NYC 2012 is the committee set up to lead the effort to have New York host the 2012 Olympic Games.
 
The recipient of numerous awards, Jerry has been named to Upside Magazine's list of the 100 Most Influential People of the New Economy and Forbes ASAP's list of the best VCs in the country.
