Susan Hauser

Vice President for the Worldwide Financial Services Team, Microsoft

Susan Hauser is the former General Manager of Microsoft's New York/New Jersey District, responsible for managing the growth and developing the strategy for Microsoft's software and services business in New York and New Jersey. She brings to her position 20 years of technology reseller and financial services, CAS, vertical research, sales and management experience.

Susan began her career with Microsoft in 1989 in its New York offices as a Reseller Account Representative, responsible for building and developing the reseller channel in the Westchester and Connecticut marketplaces. As part of a newly created organization that worked directly with Microsoft's top resellers, Susan's team was instrumental in developing early small/medium and corporate seminars to drive awareness of Microsoft's early integrated product suites, which drove early productivity gains such as MS Works.

From 1992 to 1997 Susan served as a Corporate Account Representative, working to drive adoption of Excel and Word and managing a territory of accounts across Westchester, Connecticut, Long Island and New York City. She also created the first media and publishing vertical focus in 1995, managing and developing relationships with key customers such as Viacom, Harper Collins, ABC TV, Simon & Schuster and McGraw Hill.

In 1997 Susan transitioned to a financial services territory and was responsible for winning and successfully deploying retail branch platforms and messaging across her territory to establish Windows NT as the server and networking standard, and establishing Microsoft as a key partner across its top financial services customers.

Susan became an Enterprise Sales Manager in 1998, developing a partner initiative to leverage managed partners to drive Windows NT Server adoption, SQL Server and Internet platform solutions and forming a customer financial services executive advisory board. In this role she also helped create the Financial Services team with the goal of developing a deeper understanding of Microsoft's Financial Services customers, aligning the company's efforts to meet customers' needs and providing value while increasing Microsoft's share from Unix-based solutions. In 1999, Susan's team received the Microsoft Builders Award for their Blue Star project, a customer-driven effort to identify gaps in product functionality that impeded customers from building mission critical applications on the Microsoft platform and delivered Unix functionality. These were breakthrough projects in terms of how customers built applications on the Windows platform, and resulted in code adoption by Microsoft Headquarters' Redmond, WA product teams.

In 2000 Susan assumed the role of Regional Sales Director for the entire East Region, where she was responsible for maintaining relationships with important financial services customers across insurance, banking and capital markets; driving a number of breakthrough industry solutions, such as JP Morgan Chase Internet Banking, the BONY Rufus project, State Street Fund Broker Project and PrudentialSecurities.com. Prior to joining Microsoft, Susan worked with Charterhouse Accounting Systems and Decisionex. She also taught special education for four years in the New York City public school system.

Most recently, Susan played a strategic role on Microsoft's Law and Corporate Affairs, Intellectual Property Leadership team where she built a world class sales and marketing organization responsible for interfacing with key worldwide customers and partners in driving Intellectual Property and Interoperability messaging, programs and evidence through their Novell partnership. She played an instrumental role in developing Microsoft's first Interop Executive Customer Council focused on delivering solutions to address important Enterprise Interoperability technical challenges with 45 worldwide CIO's across commercial and public sector customers.

Previously she served as Microsoft's General Manager for the New York and New Jersey district where she was responsible for managing sales, systems engineering, marketing, and consulting for 400 of Microsoft's largest corporate customers in New York City, Westchester, Fairfield County, New Jersey, Long Island, and Upstate New York. She has been a strategic part of Microsoft's success in financial services for more than a decade.

Susan is a graduate of City University of New York where she received a bachelor of arts degree with a special education certification from Fordham University. She and her husband live in Westchester County with their two sons, Henry and Jared. Susan and her family enjoy traveling, hiking, and music and are avid Yankee fans.
