Sonny Cloward is a Salesforce.com Project Manager at NPower NY. Sonny comes to NPower NY with 10 years experience with consulting with well over 75 nonprofits - working with many to develop and implement strategic technology plans and solutions. Sonny’s expertise in the nonprofit sector includes experience in information & communication technology (ICT) systems, CRM/data management systems, donor and prospect stewardship, prospect research, marketing, event management, human resources and infrastructure & business analysis.
Originally from the culinary world as a pastry chef and restaurant manager, Sonny found himself an accidental techie when he began fundraising and development work at the nonprofit summer camp Farm & Wilderness, where he had previously been a head cook. Sonny took his experience in building IT capacity for one nonprofit to direct CyberSkills for Vermont Nonprofits based in Burlington, Vermont. Funded by the Surdna Foundation, the program focused on assisting Vermont-based nonprofit organizations to better serve their constituents and missions through technology capacity building.
In addition to freelance consulting over the last 3 years, Sonny served as the Communication and Information Director at the Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF), a national nonprofit that helps strengthen and sustain the careers of professional artists through funding and information services. At CERF, Sonny implemented Salesforce.com as a full programmatic and development data management system. With little to no documentation on how to leverage Salesforce.com for nonprofits, Sonny used his blog to demonstrate how Salesforce.com could be used to track and manage data in the sector. He presented this Salesforce implementation for nonprofits at the 2005 Dreamforce Conference.
Sonny received his Masters in Management from Antioch New England Graduate School in 2005 with an emphasis in nonprofit systems and management.
Sonny is based in Montpelier, Vermont, where he lives and plays with his young son Finnegan.
