Maria Torchon
Director of Customer Service, Sales & Marketing, IT Basic
Maria brings more than 17 years of experience in planning, developing and implementing solutions to address business needs in the private and nonprofit sectors. Her background includes roles in risk management, customer service relations, IT consulting, strategic planning, organizational planning, and system implementation reviews on a global scale.
Prior to joining NPower NY, Maria worked for Citigroup as a VP, Risk Review Manager for the North America technology division leading risk reviews ensuring compliance with firm policies and regulatory requirements.
Maria has also worked for Pfizer Inc. in Global Project Management, managing, collaborating and coordinating several projects including implementing a resource-planning portal, document imaging system and version control system integrating with Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) architecture. She has collaborated on several implementation projects including roll-out and pre-implementation of PeopleSoft ERP system and the Ariba eBuy procurement system. She has experience in leading cross-functional teams working globally. Additionally, Maria has managed the New York Technology Center for Pfizer. Prior to Pfizer, Maria worked for Proskauer Rose LLP as a Sr. Network Analyst and as an IT consultant for the HayGroup, an HR solutions provider. Maria's work in the non-profit arena includes work with the Affinity Health Plan (formerly The Bronx Health Plan) as a Sr. Project Leader and The Federation of Puerto Rican Organizations (FPRO) as an MIS Director. She managed the operational and support functions of technology and business communication systems for these organizations.
Maria has traveled throughout Europe, Asia, North/Latin America and the Caribbean for work and leisure. In her spare time, Maria enjoys spending time with friends and family, whitewater rafting, skydiving, skirmish, cultural activities, gardening and enjoys participating in philanthropy efforts.
Maria is a member of a number of professional affiliations such as Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), and Project Management Institute (PMI).
