Become a Student

Eligibility Requirements

 

To participate in Technology Service Corps, candidates must meet the following requirements: 

  • Live within New York City's five boroughs 
  • Be between 18 and 25 years of age
  • Be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Have a high school diploma or a GED 
  • Be able to commit to training 20 hours a week for 4 months
  • Be able to attend class daily Monday - Friday, either 9am-1pm or 2pm-6pm
  • Have an interest in social justice work and in improving New York City's communities on the local level
  • Be comfortable using email, the Internet, and technology
  • Be able to provide a completed application, with a typed letter of intent, and one letter of recommendation

Admissions Process

We accept applications year round for the fall, spring, and summer terms.

1. Application Submission
2. Pre-screening
3. In-person Interview and Technology Assessment
4. Notification of Status

Submitting the Application

1. Download and complete the application. Do not skip any questions.

Application Deadlines:

- Summer Session: October 15th, 2007

- Spring Session: February 15th, 2008

2. Complete the letter of intent.

3. Along with the application, submit one (1) letter of recommendation, written by a person who knows you and can comment on your professional and/or technical abilities -- for example, teachers, counselors, and employers.  Recommendations from relatives are not acceptable.

4. Fax or mail the application, letter of intent and letter of recommendation.
